ORIGIN OF GABLE ROSE

From 1993 to 2000, we resided in Hawera, Taranaki, NZ. We owned a colonial style cottage on 1 & 1/2
acres of land, which also included 1/2 acre of pasture. Here, we had our pet sheep, Mary, who most
years produced twins with the occasional set of triplets, until she went to the great farm in the sky. We
also raised 3 piglets through to porkers per year. Our first three piglets were named Huey, Dewey and
Louie - until they adorned our plates. The following year the piglets were Chester and Lester. After that
it was just a blurred series of pork chops and anonymity

We also had a very large white rambling rose, which climbed up the gable of the cottage and along the
veranda. When we were looking for a name for our business interests, Gablerose was an easy choice.
